Form 3 recently enjoyed an immersive visit to Shimpling Park Farm in Suffolk, gaining first-hand experience of organic farming and the importance of sustainability. We were blessed with glorious sunshine as we welcomed around 500 members of the SJCS community to our much-loved annual Parents' Association Fun Day. Current families, alumni, incoming families, staff, and even our new incoming Head, Sarah Wright鈥攋oined by her husband and children, gathered on the Playing Fields for an afternoon of joy and connection.
Form 3 delivered a captivating production of the Snow Queen, bringing the story of Kai and Gerda to life with spine-tingling performances and evocative music specially adapted by our music teacher, Ms Harris. The children embraced the tale鈥檚 themes of friendship, perseverance, and courage, deepening their emotional expression and confidence on stage.
This informal lunchtime concert was a joyful celebration of musical creativity, showcasing the compositions of Forms 3 and 4 as part of their music curriculum. 120 compositions had been submitted in Lent Term, thoughtfully reviewed by their music teacher, and 16 were selected to be performed live by Stradivarius Strings. This ensemble of older children were very engaged by the task of performing these pieces and demonstrated a genuine interest in the work of the younger children during rehearsal.
